The acoustic guitar originated from
the nylon or gut strung classical guitar the main difference is
the acoustic guitar is louder and brighter in sound due to it having
steel strings. This means it is easy to place an electric pickup
on an acoustic for amplification. The acoustic is popular for a
strumming instrument used with a guitar pick and is very popular
in country, contemporary, and folk music.
The instrument will often have a
scratch plate to protect it. This guitar is great for finger picking
styles of playing. The sound box may have a cut away to reach the
higher frets and expand the playing range. Mainly constructed from
wood and may have a steel trust rod to strengthen the guitar neck.
